Going through some old photos and putting them out there. This is the first of several posts that are going to highlight both the photos and the areas where they were taken. Most of these posts are going to be for areas that are easily accessible from Raleigh, NC.
Hemlock Bluff is a nature preserve located in Cary, NC. For those used to being outdoors and going backpacking there isn’t going to be anything strenuous. For those people who have kids and are looking for someplace to take them on a Saturday afternoon, this place is going to be right up your alley.
The entire area has four hikes that have a total mileage of 3.6 miles. They vary in length from 0.7 mile to 1.2 miles. All are extremely easy hikes without steep inclines or roots in the trail to worry about. Overall the area is well taken care of. As mentioned before, this is good for those with kids, but a letdown for those looking for a slice of truly natural outdoors.
